Mission

Create the secure hosting foundation that every Tassili website, application, database, portal, dashboard and API will depend on.

Role scope

Prepare and manage the technical infrastructure for the Tassili ecosystem, including VPS hosting, security, backups, domains, deployment, monitoring, databases, and production readiness.

Why this role matters

This role supports Tassili Corporate, Tassili ID and Shared Services, WinNrouhou, WinNaklou, Edlalaonline by turning Tassili’s first ecosystem plan into practical, reliable work for the corporate website, client portal, admin dashboard, shared API, database, and early platform MVPs.

Role and responsibilities

• Configure Ubuntu Server LTS, SSH access, users, permissions, firewall rules and basic hardening.
• Prepare Docker, Docker Compose, Nginx or Caddy, SSL certificates, domain routing and separate staging/production environments where possible.
• Install and secure PostgreSQL and Redis, plan uploads, logs, backups and application storage.
• Create a simple Git-based deployment process with rollback notes, health checks and documented steps.
• Set up daily database and upload backups, external backup copies, monitoring, uptime alerts and restore testing.
• Document server access, DNS, deployment, backup, restore, security rules, services, credentials policy and emergency recovery steps.

What is expected from candidates

• Practical, security-aware and comfortable working on a production Linux VPS.
• Able to explain risks clearly, document work, and create a setup another engineer can understand.

First deliverables

• Secure Ubuntu VPS configured.
• Docker and Docker Compose installed.
• Reverse proxy and SSL certificates working.
• PostgreSQL and Redis secured.
• Domain and subdomain structure prepared.
• Backup and monitoring systems working.
• Deployment documentation written.
• Security checklist completed.
• At least one restore test performed.

Required skills

• Linux and Ubuntu Server administration.
• SSH security and firewall configuration.
• Nginx or Caddy.
• Docker and Docker Compose.
• PostgreSQL and Redis basics.
• SSL and Let's Encrypt.
• DNS and domain management.
• Backup and restore systems.
• Monitoring and production troubleshooting.
• Git-based deployment.

Nice-to-have skills

• GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
• Cloudflare DNS/security.
• Object storage.
• Load balancing and WAF basics.
• Laravel, Django, Node.js or Next.js deployment.
• Disaster recovery planning.
• Experience with Algerian hosting providers.

How performance will be measured

• 99%+ uptime during Phase 1.
• Daily backups completed and logged.
• Restore test completed at least once per month.
• No public database exposure.
• Deployment can be repeated consistently.
• Alerts configured for downtime, disk, CPU, RAM and SSL.
• Documentation clear enough for another engineer to follow.

Interview task

Design the production hosting architecture for Tassili Ecosystem on one VPS with 4 vCPU, 12 GB RAM and 600 GB disk. Explain ports, SSH security, backups, restore, deployment, monitoring, staging, full-disk response and compromise response.
